The companies in the MetLife, Inc. family ("MetLife") strongly believe in protecting the confidentiality and security of information we collect about individuals. This policy describes how some of the companies in our family use the information we receive about you if you become a MetLife customer, apply for any of our products or services, or register with us.

What we know about you we obtain mostly from you when you apply for one of our products or services. But we may also have to find out more about you from other sources in order to make sure that what we know about you is correct and complete. These sources may include your adult relatives, employers, health care providers, credit reference agencies, other insurers and other financial services providers, consumer reporting and anti-fraud agencies. Some of our sources may provide us with reports relating to you.

Other reasons we may share what we know about you include:

  • Sharing your information with your financial services advisor so that they can advise and service you

We may use or share your information within the MetLife family  to market you our products and services, and those of carefully selected businesses, and we may share your information with carefully selected business so that they can market their products and services to you.
We will only share your information within the MetLife family or with carefully selected businesses to market products and services to you.
 

 

We may transfer your information to other countries. Those countries in the European Economic Area provide the same level of protection to personal information as the UK does. If we transfer information or share it with others outside the European Economic Area, we will ensure that we and those persons or companies who receive your personal information agree to protect it from improper use or disclosure, in accordance with data protection law.
 

 

Generally, we will let you see the information that we hold on you if you ask us in writing. [We may make a small charge for this service. (Because of its legal sensitivity, we will not show you anything that we learned in connection with a claim or lawsuit.)  If you tell us that the information we hold on you is incorrect, we will review it and if we agree with you, we will correct our records. If we do not agree with you we will let you know. If you wish, you can tell us in writing that you believe our records still to be incorrect and we will include your statement when we give your information to anyone outside MetLife.
